Mid-morning coffee: VEGABOND

This new spot in the center of Amsterdam is a great place for a soy latte and a glutenfree brownie. Vegabond is a vegan and vegetarian friendly store/coffeebar that sells plenty of glutenfree products, like homemade chocolates and brownies, but also smoothies, cookies, pasta and even deep frozen pizza and lasagna. Their dresscode? Casual with shoppingbag.

Quick breakfast: HEMA

HEMA is a Dutch department store where you can buy affordable Dutch design like stationary and home and kitchen accessories. Some stores have a restaurant and offer a glutenfree breakfast-/lunchbox. The box contains a pack of cornflakes, a roll and a candybar and will be defrosted in the microwave. In addition you get fresh milk, butter and your choice of ham or cheese. The HEMA restaurants are buffet style, but you won't find the breakfast-/lunchbox on display, you have to ask a staff member. It's a basic breakfast or lunch, but it's cheap (only €5) and very convenient while shopping.

After work drinks: CAFE BRECHT

Brecht is a Berlin-style living room cafe, with a cosy interior and one of the smallest but best terraces in Amsterdam. This is a great place to start your evening in the summer or spend a winterafternoon with a glutenfree beer. However, if you can resist the beer, you should try Lillet, a French aperitif wine with a hint of bitter orange. Its my absolute favourite drink and another good reason to visit Cafe Brecht.

Lunch on your own: BAGELS & BEANS

It's a chain that doesn't want to be a chain and they manage pretty well. At Bagels & Beans you can stop for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon tapas. They serve great coffee, chai latte and fresh juices. You can choose from different kinds of bagels, among which is a glutenfree one and an oathie bagel without wheat. My current favourite is the glutenfree Tuscany bagel with walnut-honey creamcheese. Enjoy their free WIFI.

Lazy brunch: COTTONCAKE

Tiny conceptstore that sells the softest basics, the coolest jewellery, the cosiest home accessoiries and is a cafe as well. They serve breakfast and lunch and have great coffee. Most dishes are available vegetarian and/or glutenfree, and their cakes are homemade with rice-, buckwheat- or almondflour. Think carrotcake muffins, walnut-banana bread and flourless chocolate cake. This is a great place to consider your next puchase during a lazy brunch.
